Proactive mole screening is your best protection

Too often skin cancer goes undetected in routine mole checks. That’s why we invented Full Body Mole Check—an innovative skin monitoring system. We track the slightest changes in your skin to spot cancers faster—with higher accuracy. Because the earlier cancer is found, the better the chances of beating it.

Is a Full Body Mole Check for me?

Yes, if you’re medium to high risk and want to proactively check, map and monitor your moles. A Full Body MoleMap provides you with baseline images of your moles. If a mole changes over time or a new one appears, it’ll be spotted early—when it’s most treatable and beatable.

“At my annual full body skin exam, the melanographer found a small pin-sized spot on my ear and recommended I have it examined further. It turned out to be cancerous. If it wasn’t for MoleMap, it would have gone unnoticed.”

What can I expect from a Full Body Mole Check?

Plus Iconminus Icon

The Full Body MoleMap is our most comprehensive checking moles service. The appointment includes a thorough skin and mole check by a melanographer. Full body photography is an essential part of our mole scan. This is where we take a set of approximately 24 images of your skin.

These are used as an historical reference, so we can track and monitor any new spots appearing on your skin over time. We use dermoscopic (that is, under the skin) imaging to capture close-up images of any suspicious or ‘at-risk’ moles. These are sent to one of our accredited dermatologists for further investigation and diagnosis.

Our Full Body MoleMap service gives you the added benefit (not to mention peace of mind) of unlimited free spot checks for 12 months following your appointment. This means no second guessing. If you notice a new or changing mole, you can visit our skin cancer clinic for a Molemap mole check.

How long does a Full Body MoleMap take?

Your full body mole check at one of our cancer skin clinics will take approximately 45-50 minutes to complete.

Is it worth getting a skin mole check?

Plus Iconminus Icon

Absolutely! A regular molescreen is the best way to detect skin cancer early, when it’s most treatable.

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. Yet we know that with early detection and treatment most skin cancers are curable. Our mole scan service provides a baseline record of the size, shape, and location of your moles. This means you can track and monitor any changes to your moles over time. If the slightest change is spotted it can be quickly assessed by a dermatologist.

While anyone can have a full body mole check, it’s particularly useful for people with a moderate to high risk of skin cancer.

What happens during a Full Body Mole Check?

Plus Iconminus Icon

You’ll get to meet one of our friendly melanographers, who are specially trained in melanoma detection and prevention. Your skin will be thoroughly checked from head to toe. Yes, you’ll need to get down to your underwear, so as not to miss a spot. But don’t worry, your modesty will be protected, and you’ll feel completely comfortable throughout your appointment.

Your moles will be digitally photographed to create a baseline of image for future reference. Any dubious-looking moles will be dermoscopically (under the skin) imaged and sent to an accredited dermatologist for further review.

See, there’s really no need to be nervous. A mole scan is routine, non-invasive and pain-less. Within the following week you’ll get your full report. No referral required (unless you’re aged under 16), which means less wait time and faster results.

Should I have a Full Body Mole Check or a SkinCheck?

Plus Iconminus Icon

The type of moles checked you choose will depend on your skin cancer risk (you can check that with our quick Risk Quiz) and personal need. However, a whole body skin moles check is a good choice if you have:

  • A family or personal history of skin cancer
  • A high number of moles
  • Some unusual looking moles
  • Sun damage

The added features of the Full Body MoleMap are:

  • Total body photography. This gives you a baseline of images to compare at future skin examinations
  • Proactive monitoring of moles and benign lesions (in case of change) for added reassurance
  • Unlimited free skin screening for 12 months

To accurately compare both services to make the right choice for you, take a look at our comparison table.

It’s also a good option for those who want the added reassurance that comes from the ongoing monitoring of moles. If there are any changes, they will be spotted early—when skin cancer is most curable
